2nd Grade Creative Writing
Dear Parents,
Thank you for encouraging your child to participate in UIL academic events. Creative writing is designed for students that enjoy writing high interest and creative stories. Students who love to read and have an imagination for fiction will enjoy participating in this event.
Creative Writing tryouts will be Wednesday, September 28th, from 3:15-4:00 in Mrs. Johnson’s class. (Room 41, purple hall). Please be prepared to pick up your child.
Four students will be chosen as part of the Creative Writing team, with one student being designated an alternate. The team will practice on Wednesdays after school until 4:00. Students will need to be picked up after practice. Practices will begin in October and continue through January.
Creative Writing Competition Format:
Contestants will be given a prompt with several captioned pictures. From these pictures, the students will create an original story based on their selections in 30 minutes. The stories must contain at least one of the pictured items, but it is not required that all items on the page be included.
Thank you for your interest in being a part of our team. I am excited to read your child’s “creative” stories.
Thank You,
Kelly Johnson
